In November, Melbourne trains will changing the way how they travel to the city . They will be a simplify the way trains move around the network, opening up tracks for more trains to operate in Melbourne train network.
Connex untangle train traffic moving in and out of the loop, and all trains on the Epping and Hurstbridge lines will travel one direction – clockwise – around the loop, instead of changing direction from morning to afternoon.

Connex's new plan at work.
Melbourne train services will be added or changed to meet the growing demand, which has become possible through investment in maintenance facilities and new staff.
Epping and Hurstbridge lines
One-way city loop running will reduce congestion and allow for an additional morning peak train on the Epping and Hurstbridge lines.
This may provide additional services for Werribee customers to access the city loop from Southern Cross Station.
Werribee line
As part of the new way the city loop system will run, Werribee peak services will skip the loop and travel direct to Flinders Street via Southern Cross. This provides more capacity in the city loop and allows for two extra morning peak services on both the Werribee and Sydenham lines.
Werribee customers wanting to travel through the city loop can change trains at Southern Cross or at North Melbourne.
Pakenham and Cranbourne lines
More frequent evening trains are planned for the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines.
